The second volume of my Patreon sketchbook went online today!
What’s Patreon? It’s a great way to directly support me, my comics, and the work I do via monthly pledges!
What’s the Patreon sketchbook? It’s a brand new thing I’m doing- every month I’m creating a Patreon-exclusive PDF jam packed with character designs, concept art, miscellaneous monsters, and doodles. The month’s sketchbook is 25 pages, with loads of colour and stuff you won’t see anywhere else.
How do I get in on this sweet Patreon action? Head on over to patreon.com/sfemonster. There’s lots going on- early weekly Eth’s Skin updates, previews and WIPs, and first looks at new projects.
Thank you for your support!
As mentioned in a previous post (and all over twitter) I spent last week in Portland staying with Leia Weathington and while I was there I designed a Wolf That Only You Can See for her and she got it tattooed on her leg forever.
It was seriously the most awesome and flattering thing that has ever happened to me.
Look at us we’re so cute.
Since con season is starting and I’m heading down to ECCC today I wanted to do this thing! A GUIDE 2 SFÉ. Highlights include: It’s pronounced “s-fey” and rhymes with ‘hey.’ He/eh pronouns only, please! I’m really intimidated right now because you are definitely cooler than me! If I’m making mean jokes it means I like you! If I’m not making mean jokes it means I really like you and I’m trying not to let you see how I’ve chosen to spend my life!
I will be at ECCC this weekend, and while I’m not exhibiting I will be spending a lot of my time at table 310 hanging with my friends and I’ll have an extremely limited number of my Eth’s Skin mini-previews if you want to get your hands on that! I’m also speaking as part of the panel ‘Looking Past the Target Audience’ on Friday in Hall D at 3:40! FUN.
Work-in-progress on a drawing of famed and acclaimed queer crystal warrior Eldritch Northsea that I’ll ink one day, eventually I promise (I hope).
My Patreon is funding me working on the first short comic about Eldritch Northsea (called LOL TXT IT) and I’m so excited. If you support my Patreon you can read the script that’s already written (plus get monthly sketchbook subscriptions, early Eth’s Skin updates, loads of work-in-progress stuff… it’s awesome). » patreon.com/sfemonster «
Q:Where can I find you at Emerald City Comicon this weekend?
I’m not TECHNICALLY tabling (I was going to, but a lot of Big Pieces moving around in my life made me decide to play it cool this year) but I’ll still be in attendance, and I’ll have Eth’s Skin and I can draw stuff, and you can even come listen to me talk as part of the amazing panel ‘Looking Past The Target Audience’ on Friday!
Eth’s Skin mini-previews!
I printed up a handful of these previews of my comic Eth’s Skin that I’m going to have with me at ECCC (next week!). Twenty pages of chapter one (that’s more than what’s online right now!) with a minimalist cover so I can draw on ‘em if anyone is interested. They’re really cute, I really like them, and it’s a neat primer for the first book of Eth’s Skin which will debut in May at TCAF!
Leia Weathington is a good friend and an amazing writer and she’s running a kickstarter for her amazing comic Bold Riley and I’m so excited about it. Queer comics written by a queer woman about a lesbian adventurer drawn by some amazing artists- it’s the best. Bold Riley literally changed my life and I cannot say enough good about it.
Anyway, Leia coined this great phrase and I love it so I drew it on a ribbon for her. Viva La Comics. (And if you haven’t checked out the Bold Riley kickstarter yet: do it, do it now. )
As is my way, an off-the-cuff idea has turned into a new comic project that I am super excited about. It’s about a queer crystal warrior in a high fantasy-meets-modern-conveniences setting called Eldritch Northsea. (I wrote about it briefly in an early post that you can check out here.)
I want to work on Eldritch Northsea in a series of minicomics- I’ve written the first script and everything- and I’m funding it via my Patreon! A few more bucks will see me posting monthly updates on the comic for Patreon subscribers (when the comic is done everyone will get to read it, but Patreon folks will get to see the comic/scripts/character designs/etc. as they take shape). This is layered on top of what Patreon subscribers already get (early Eth’s Skin updates; previews, work-in-progress posts, and talk of new and upcoming projects; monthly Patreon-only sketchbook subscriptions, etc.).
You can check it out, learn more about my Patreon, and- if you’re already one of my Patreon subscribers- you can read the finished script for Eldritch Northsea’s LOL TXT IT right here » patreon.com/sfemonster !!
I’m almost almost almost done the comic I’m contributing to Cloudscape’s ‘Mega Fauna’ anthology.
My comic is called “Chasing Heads”- it’s about two genderqueer kids bothering a monster who just wants to be left alone to sleep. Here’s a little one-panel preview.
